Day 1: Arrive and Acclimatize

  • Arrive at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (BKI).
  • Meet your pre-arranged transportation service or take a taxi to your accommodation in Kota Kinabalu. Either use the local private hire app GRAB or pre-book for a local driver.

  • Rest and acclimatize to the local time and weather.
  • Use this day to gather any necessary supplies and equipment for the climb.
  • Enjoy a leisurely evening exploring the city and sampling local cuisine.

Day 2: Base Camp Climb

  • Wake up early and have breakfast at your accommodation.
  • Check out from your hotel and travel to Kinabalu Park, either by pre-arranged transportation or by taxi.
  • Arrive at Kinabalu Park Headquarters and complete the necessary registration and briefing processes.
  • Start the climb from Timpohon Gate, following the Timpohon Trail.
  • Hike to Laban Rata, where you will spend the night.
  • Rest, have dinner, and prepare for the next day’s ascent.
  • Get an early night’s sleep to ensure sufficient rest.

Day 3: Summit Climb and Descent

  • Wake up around 2 a.m. for a light breakfast and prepare for the summit climb.
  • Begin the ascent to the summit of Mount Kinabalu, commonly known as Low’s Peak.
  • Reach the summit in time for sunrise and enjoy the breathtaking views. Take photos and soak in the achievement of reaching the peak.
  • Descend from the summit and return to Laban Rata for a well-deserved rest and a hot meal.
  • After resting and replenishing your energy, continue the descent back to Timpohon Gate.
  • Reach the end point and transfer to your accommodation near Kinabalu Park or back to Kota Kinabalu.
  • Check into your accommodation and enjoy a relaxing evening.

Day 4: Relax and Explore

  • Wake up, have breakfast, and take some time to relax and reflect on your Mount Kinabalu adventure.
  • Explore the nearby Kinabalu Park, visit the botanical gardens, or take a guided nature walk.
  • Alternatively, you can visit the Poring Hot Springs and indulge in a soothing hot bath.
  • Return to your accommodation in Kota Kinabalu.
  • Spend the evening exploring the city, shopping for souvenirs, or enjoying a delicious seafood dinner.

Day 5: Pack Up and Reflect

  • Wake up, have breakfast, and pack your belongings.
  • Check out from your hotel and arrange transportation to Kota Kinabalu International Airport.
  • Depart from Kota Kinabalu with fond memories of your Mount Kinabalu climb.
